What is noise-cancellation?

Noise-cancellation is a process to reduce the outside unwanted noise. This method is mostly used in premium headphones but nowadays budget headphones also come with noise canceling.

So how does it work?

To reduce outside noise, at first, the microphone of the headphone picks up the waveform of the sound. After that, the headphone creates an exact opposite waveform of the sound which it received through the microphone.  This process cancels the waves and as a result, cancels the noise.

Is it good or bad?

Loud noise is always bad for our ears. Also in a crowded place like an airplane, restaurant, or train station we increase the volume of our headphones in order to listen to music or podcast. This way headphones can also damage our ears. This is where noise-canceling headphones shines. These headphones cancel the outside noise and as a result, the user doesn't have to increase the volume of music or podcast.
