How to Boost Wi-Fi Signal

Wifi usage is very common nowadays. Every device comes with a wifi option nowadays. Your mobile, TV, tablet, laptop, security camera, AC everything is connected to your wifi router. But it can be troublesome if your wifi isn't performing as it should have. As a result, most of the devices in your home won't be able to connect to the internet. This problem occurs for multiple reasons such as distance between your devices and wifi, obstacles, router's capability, low bandwidth, leechers, etc.

There are multiple ways to boost the wifi signal. Here I'll explain 5 essential steps to improve your wifi connection. Read this article to learn how you can improve your wifi signal.

Wifi Router Placement

This is one of the most common issues. If you want the best performance and signal from your wifi router then you must place your router in the middle of your house. Remember you have to place it a little bit higher from the ground. If you place the router in the corner of your house then you won't get a better signal on the opposite side of the house. The other side of your house will probably get 1-2 bar or no bar at all depending on your wifi range.

Obstacles

The Wifi network can be blocked by objects and walls. So remember, you have to place your wifi where the signal can easily pass. Your wifi signal won't be able to pass stone and concrete very easily.

Router's capacity

Sometimes the main problem can be the router itself. The older model might not be able to cover the full area of your house. It happens due to the capacity of a router. If you have too many devices in the house then you might face some problems with your wifi signal. But if you have a newer model router that supports 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies then you should split them. You can use 2.4GHz frequency to connect the older devices and use the 5GHz to connect new devices. Remember 5GHz is much faster than 2.4Ghz frequencies.

Leechers

If you have no idea about leechers then let me educate you. Leechers are those who suck up your wifi without you noticing. If someone using your wifi without your permission then he/she is a leecher. You can see how many devices are connected to your router by login into your router. If you don't know the process then feel free to read this article How To See Who Is Using Your Wi-Fi. You can disconnect or deny the unknown devices from your wifi router.

Wifi Extender/ Powerline

If you can not place your router in the middle of your house then you can also improve its signal using a wifi extender or wifi repeater. This method is pretty good and super easy since most of the repeater is wireless. However, it comes with a disadvantage. A wireless repeater will boost a weaker signal but it will not improve the connection. Instead, it will make your connection even weaker. So in that case powerline is a better choice. You can basically make a separate wireless network using a powerline. Using a powerline will not hamper your connection. So it is way better than using a repeater.

Restart Router

This is the most common method for fixing a wifi signal. I know it is silly but even a wifi router needs rest. Most of the common problems are fixed when you restart your router. I use my wifi 24/7 and I also face common problems like not getting a connection at all or not even detecting my wifi. In that case, I turn off my router and turn it on after 5 min.
